This article takes you through the important skills you should have as a business owner or aspiring entrepreneur if you must remain relevant in the business space.
I will also go ahead to show you how you can get these skills.
It is getting scary at the way events keep changing in the business space year on year.
The way we did business 5 years ago isn’t the same way it is done today.
A lot has also changed from just a year ago till date.
What does this tell you as an entrepreneur?
Keep evolving if you must remain a force to reckon with in the business arena.
You don’t have to learn all the skills I am going to be talking about at once.
Just take them one after the other or outsource them if you are buoyant enough.
As an aspiring entrepreneur, you can be in serious business if you have at least one of these skills.
Are you ready to evolve?
Let’s move into the real deal.
Skill One: Blogging For Business
I know there are a lot of bloggers out there but the question is: Are they really blogging for business?
Most bloggers are simply blogging for the sake of it and not for business.
Business bloggers aren’t the type of bloggers who blog for the sake of stamping their blogs with third party adverts.
They blog because they want to connect on a deeper level with their audiences, generate leads and make sales.
As a business owner, having a blog is non-negotiable.
Using contents to win the hearts of people is one of the new ways to do business.
People are getting so immune to seeing adverts of buy this or buy that… they are yearning more towards knowing.
Until you make them know stuff through your contents, it becomes difficult to sell to them.
How do you start a blog?
Step One: Find out what your customers want to know:
You need to know the burning answers your customers yearn for then use your blog in answering those questions.
Pass down value consistently and see your sales and profit grow.
By giving more value through my blog, I have gotten more quality leads and made more sales from it.
Step Two: Register a domain name and hosting account
A domain name is something like www.yourbusiness.com but the domain name won’t work on its own until you host it.
If you have been doing business but don’t have this then you should get one.
If you already have a website for your business, there is no need getting a fresh one, all you need to do is to create a new directory or sub domain for your blog.
Sounds confusing? Don’t worry I got you covered, I have a free video course that shows you that.

Skill Two: Using Video To Pass Your Message
Like my Nigerian brothers would always say “Video is now the reigning thing”
Why do you think platforms like Facebook are now taking videos very seriously?
They know that videos keep people more engaged and the best of all, it converts better than written words.
If you are currently not using videos for your business, begin to think twice.
If you must grow your business and grow it fast then you have to move with the trends or be left behind.
How do you create these videos
There are three types of videos you can create depending on what you want to achieve with your business.
Video Type One: The Explainer/Animated Videos
These are videos with duration usually between 30-90 seconds explaining a product, a service or your business in general.
They usually come in animated forms and sometimes you have a hand, writing something on the screen.
The components of an explainer video are the script and voiceover then you put these together into different animated scenes to create the video.
You can use either explaindio or videoscribe in creating your videos.
Personally, I use explaindio and it cost me $57 to get. Explaindio has been great when it comes to creating my animated videos.
Video Type Two: Screencast/Tutorial Videos
The tutorial videos are the types of videos where you share your screen.
This is the type of videos I use most of the time and that is because I love to teach.
You use the tutorial videos to teach someone something awesome while they watch you do it on the screen.
This type of videos draw people into your message and you can easily convert them from just spectators to real buyers.
I use Camtasia though but it cost $199 which makes it too pricey for most entrepreneurs but Screen-o matic is way cheaper and affordable for most people at $18/year.
Video Type Three: Face View Videos
The Face view videos is one of the easiest videos to make, with a smartphone or digital camera you are good to go.
They are the type of videos where you actually come out live to talk about your products, services or business in a way that makes it attractive to your audience.
The Face View Videos Converts the best because it immediately connects people to your business and they are able to see that there is a face behind the business.
As a business owner, you should consider using any of these video types in promoting your business.
Skill Three: Social Media Marketing
This is another “reigning” thing in the business space.
As a business owner, you are looking for ways to make your products and services more visible; you want to get more leads and make more sales.
Social media has become one of the best ways to promote whatever products or services that you have.
The best social media right now to promote your stuff is Facebook…. Any contrary opinion?
The problem with Facebook is that a lot of entrepreneurs haven’t quite learnt about how Facebook adverts work.
When they advertise on Facebook, they lose money instead of making some good profit.
Have you ever tried advertising on Facebook but ended up losing money with no sales? Or do you want to learn how to make more sales using Facebook Advertising?
Not to worry….
I created a course that shows you all you need to know to Master Facebook advertising. It shows you how to reach your exact audience and make more sales on Facebook without stress.
The course has been running on a discount and the price is going up soon.
If all you know is how to run powerful adverts on Facebook, you can even render the services to other people and command a good fee.
Skill Four: Copywriting
Copywriting is the art of writing words in order to get people to take an exact action. That action can be buying your product, service or getting them to sign up to your newsletter.
Have you wondered why copywriters are one of the most sought after and highly paid people in the world?
They are being paid because they have mastered the art of crafting words that make sales.
If the only thing you know in business is how to write great copies then you have no reason to be broke ever again.
As a business owner you need to learn how to use the right words to trigger the right emotions in people when promoting your products.
That is what copywriting helps you achieve.
You do copywriting when sending emails, when writing your adverts, when writing proposals. The role copywriting plays in your everyday business life cannot be ruled out.
This is one aspect I will be focusing on going forward…. In fact, I just got a copywriting course that cost me so much but I don’t mind because I am learning a lot from it.
